Since Spectral Service has several valid import licenses, we are allowed to analyze samples with animal origin. However, these samples have to pass the veterinary border inspection, based on the European Commission Decision2021/632/EC.
To simplify and accelerate the sending process of samples with animal origin such as krill oil or milk products, a clear and correct declaration in the pro forma invoice is best. A copy of the pro forma invoice as well as a copy of the waybill is then attached to the outside of the parcel. If the declaration is not correct or not available, the obligatory veterinary inspection will not be carried out, thus we will be forced to return the samples to the border control. Can you imagine how much time is lost until the samples are released by authority? Now, you are thinking about how to overcome this problem and how to declare your samples correctly? No problem, here are some examples:
Matrix | Declare as | Customs tariff number | Hazard information | Purpose |
Krill oil | Sample of Krill oil | 1504 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Fish oil | Sample of fish oil | 1504 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Fish, shellfish or crustacean samples **) | Fish samples (captured in the wild) | 1504 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Fish, shellfish or crustacean samples **) | Fish samples (aquaculture) | 1504 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Fish feed*) | Sample of fish feed | 2301 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Milk*) | Sample of milk product | 0402 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Egg yolk*) | Sample of egg yolk | 0408 | Nonhazardous samples | Analytical use only |
Attention!
*Fish feed, egg and milk samples require an additional document: a heat treatment certificate about 80°C in the core.
**) Fish, shellfish, or crustacean samples from aquaculture need one of the following documents:
-
-
-
- A health certificate issued by the official veterinarian responsible for the place of origin of the fish/fishery products certifying that the samples of fish, crustaceans or shellfish originate from a third country and that they have been examined by him and found free from transmissible fish diseases specific to that species, or susceptible to that species and whose herds of origin are not subject to animal health restrictions due to diseases affecting fish, crustaceans or Shellfish or are subject to transmissible diseases.
